M Patrick Carroll, chairman, and CEO of Insight Venture Partners is committed to Bisnow’s future growth by investing $1 million in the company. In a tweet on Tuesday night, M Patrick Carroll said, “I’m happy to announce that I’ve invested another 1 million into @bisnow!”
Insight Venture Partners has been an active investor in the media industry for many years with investments in Marketwatch and Business Insider. The firm also invests heavily in real estate technology companies through its venture arm IVP Tech Ventures, including investments from Reonomy, Matterport, and Floored.
M Patrick Carroll is a co-founder and managing director of Insight Venture Partners with Michael Moe. The two founded the company in 1995 after leaving another venture capital firm, Greylock & Co., which was eventually sold to Warburg Pincus.
Insight Venture Partners has raised more than $12 billion since its inception and had approximately $50 billion in assets under management as of December 31, 2016.
Insight Venture Partners invests across multiple stages and sectors, focusing on software, internet, and services companies at the growth stage, including Zendesk (IPO), Twitter (NYSE: TWTR), and AppDynamics. The firm’s most recent fund, IVP XIV, was raised in 2016 and had a final close of $13 billion.
Insight Venture Partners is one of the most active VC firms when it comes to M&A, with more than 150 exits since inception, including recent acquisitions such as Demandware, which sold for approximately $600 million. IMS Health sold for nearly $11 billion, and Marketo sold for roughly $900 million.
