Frances Townsend is the Executive Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer at Activision Blizzard. She has been serving in this role since July 2017. Frances Townsend was previously the Assistant to President George W. Bush for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism from 2004-2008 and a Senior Counselor to then-President Barack Obama from 2009-2013.
Frances Townsend has a long and impressive resume. As an Assistant to President George W. Bush, she was responsible for developing and leading the national security strategy for the Homeland Security Council. She also created the first-ever National Strategy for Combating Terrorism. After leaving the White House, Townsend served as a Senior Vice President at MacAndrews & Forbes, an investment firm owned by Ronald Perelman. She also served on the boards of several public companies and worked as a national security analyst for CBS News.
Townsend is currently senior counsel at The Cohen Group, founded by former Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen in 2000 to provide consulting services around international business issues, government and military affairs, and cyber security.
Frances Townsend holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, where she majored in Foreign Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies. She also received her Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University Law School.
In 1992, Frances married John W. Rollins Jr., an attorney for the Department of Justice. The couple has two children, a son and a daughter.
