Larry Baer: A Visionary Who Changed The World Of Sports

Larry Baer is dedicated to providing the highest level of performance and impact for Giants, Major League Baseball and all of its stakeholders. He believes that our sport’s power is its global reach, an achievement that provides an unparalleled opportunity for communities to participate in our game, and for fans to embrace it in new and innovative ways.

Since he took over as president and the SF Giants CEO in 2007, Baer has overseen several initiatives to address the ever-changing and increasingly competitive sports landscape. These include developing the vision and community strategy, establishing the club’s new training facility at Stanford, installing SAP at the club and hiring multiple new executive and baseball operations staff members.

In 2012, the Giants CEO led the team to World Series organization included holding several prominent positions, including director of business operations and director of marketing. In 2005, he was named executive vice president and COO and in 2010, he assumed the position of president and CEO.

The executive vice president, chief operating officer, and president of the Giants since 1992, Baer is the primary point of contact between Giant’s ownership and the league office. As COO and president of the Giants CEO, Baer oversees the day-to-day operations and financial performance of the team, and is responsible for coordinating major business and baseball transactions. He has been instrumental in negotiating the current naming rights and multimedia rights agreements for AT&T Park, as well as the Giants’ recent 50-year lease extension with Yahoo.

Larry Baer has had many achievements during his tenure, but perhaps the most important achievement has been his ability to make a mark on the Giants’ business operations. He has been instrumental in many of the club’s most significant decisions over the past three decades including the establishment of the Giants Care foundation in 1993.

The Giants Care Foundation is the nation’s largest charitable organization dedicated to health and wellness of children and their families and Larry has led that organization from its inception to being the largest non-profit dedicated to health and wellness of children and their families. Larry Baer, the SF Giants CEO, also was instrumental in signing several of the Giants most historic and noteworthy players including Barry Bonds, Barry Zito, and Sergio Romo.
