Andrew Alexander’s Extensive Writing and Producing Career
The Extensive career of Andrew Alexander begins on March 24, 1944 in London, England where he was born later moving to Canada with his family. While in Canada Andrew Alexander attended Ryerson University in Toronto. Life after school Alexander took on various jobs working for magazines, newspapers, and theaters. He was hired by The Global Village theater in Chicago where he started producing for the first time then was hired by Ivanhoe Theater in Chicago. Alexander bought “The Second City Toronto” in 1974 from Bernie Sahlins in agreement he would assume all the debts of the company. \
Two years later “The Second City Entertainment Company” was born with the help of Len Stuart. This was the start of something big for Alexander from here he would win two Emmy Awards, and an ACTRA Award, and countless nominations. Andrew Alexander has Co-produced for many television networks ABC, NBC, Fox Television, CBS, Comedy Central. Alexander has collaborated with Steve Carell, John Candy, Bill Murray, Stephn Colbert Co-producing and writing TV shows and Movies. As of 2020 Alexander and Co-owner D’Arcy Stuart sold “The Second City”. Outside of his career Alexander is apart of the Columbia College Board of Trustees.
